This latter point of view is also encouraged by some studies carried out in the USA on the development of the US airport system that predict a huge increase of point-to-point links by 2020 with almost all passengers being offered direct flights to their destinations, an improvement in services and a reduction in the number of takeoffs and landings relative to the volume of transport services.
